THE ARTIST

The artist’s hand with surgeon’s skill
in reforming life no blood doth spill
the brush strokes and cuts like the master’s knife
to us mere mortals both givers of life

with paint and canvas create a scene
that takes us there leaves us serene
with water-colours, pastel, chalk
a path is drawn for us to walk

the gifted few and far between
the many left to simply dream
life’s duty to record the view
leaves the many wishing to be the few
